How I Grew My CRO Agency to $28k/mo in 4 Months Using Twitter & Cold Email

When I joined Client Ascension in mid-January, I was doing about $3k a month. Four months later, I'm sitting at $28–29k. I want to break down exactly what changed — because it wasn't magic, and it wasn't some secret strategy nobody knows about.

Before: A Complete Mess

Honestly? Before CA, it was a shit show. I was testing random offers, scattered in every direction, trying to copy whatever was trending on Twitter. I saw people doing email marketing, Facebook ads — things I knew nothing about — and I kept chasing those instead of doubling down on what I was actually good at: designing pages and conversion rate optimization.

I had no CRM. No VSL. No sales structure. I wasn't even recording my sales calls. My close rate was sitting around 5%, and I didn't understand why. I just assumed if someone got on a call, they'd either close or they wouldn't.

There was no system. Just scattered motion.

The Biggest Shift: Selling What You're Actually Good At

This sounds obvious, but it took me embarrassingly long to internalize: sell something you're genuinely skilled at.

Once I stopped trying to follow trends and leaned into CRO and landing page design — work I actually know how to do well — everything got easier. Dialing in the offer took time. It wasn't immediate. But once I had something I was confident pitching, leads started converting. And closing on sales calls got dramatically easier because I wasn't second-guessing myself on every call.

How I'm Getting Clients Now

Three channels are working for me right now:

1. Twitter Inbounds

This has been the biggest one. Consistent content posting has driven a steady stream of inbound leads. I won't lie — when Daniel first told me to just post content, I went dark for a couple weeks trying to plan and design everything perfectly. That was a mistake.

The shift happened when I batched and scheduled two weeks of content in advance and just committed to being consistent. Since then, it's gone straight up. The answer really is that simple: post, stay consistent, don't overthink it.

2. Referrals from Other Agency Owners

Inside CA, there are a lot of people offering complementary services — email marketing, paid ads, and so on. I started networking with those people and offering my CRO and landing page services to their clients. It's a natural fit, and it's been a solid source of warm referrals.

3. Cold Email

Cold email rounds out the three. What made it actually work was treating it as an iterative process. I'd send, get feedback from sales calls, inject that back into my scripts, adjust my landing page, refine the offer. Over and over. It's slow in the moment, but you look back and realize how much ground you covered.

The Sales Process I Didn't Have (And Now Do)

My sales process before was a joke. I thought closing was binary — either someone buys on the call or they don't. I had no concept of sales cycles or follow-up windows.

Now I understand: most sales don't close on the first call. If someone isn't in your CRM, you will forget they exist. I was losing deals not because people didn't want what I was selling, but because I had no system to stay in front of them.

Since building out a proper CRM, adding a VSL, and following an actual sales structure, my close rate has jumped from around 5% to 30–40%. The structure matters more than the pitch.

The Mindset That Actually Unlocked Everything

Here's the thing nobody talks about enough: none of the tactics work without the right obsession behind them.

There were stretches where I'd coast, feel discouraged, and wonder what the point was. The real turning point was when I made the internal shift to: this has to work, or I'm going to die trying. Not metaphorically — just genuinely deciding there was no fallback plan.

Once you're in that mode, you stop sending DMs because you feel like you should. You send them because you're in full-on hunting mode. My buddy Grant put it well: unsuccessful people want to be spoon-fed success, while successful people are out hunting — finding the next thing, implementing it, moving on, finding the next thing.

That's the mentality. When you're wired that way, the actions follow automatically.

What I'd Tell Myself 6 Months Ago

Two things:

First, stop chasing what looks good on Twitter and start selling what you're actually built for. The money is in your genuine skills, not in copying someone else's service model.

Second, go all in before you feel ready. When Daniel DM'd me on Twitter, I almost didn't take it seriously. I'm glad I did. Taking the bet on yourself — even when it's uncomfortable — is what opens the door for everything else to compound.

The results aren't complicated. Dial in the offer. Post content consistently. Build the systems. Do what the people ahead of you tell you to do, and don't question it — just execute.
