How I'd Build a $100k/mo Online Business From Scratch (With $500 and No Skills)
The Setup: No Money, No Skills, No Clients
Let's make this as hard as possible. You have $500, zero skills, and zero clients. That's the starting point. And I'm going to show you that you're still massively overthinking this.
If I were starting from scratch today, I'd start a Google/YouTube ads agency for ecom brands. That's the offer. Now here's exactly how I'd build it to $100k/month.
Step 1: Get Minimally Viable at Google Ads (14 Days)
Go to YouTube and search "Google ads tutorial." Watch every video on the first two pages — even if they repeat themselves. Don't skip. This takes about two days. As you watch, write down every question that comes up. Don't Google them yet.
On day three, start answering those questions. Watch five to eight videos on each one. More questions will come up — write those down too. This is tree-branching, and eventually all the pieces start connecting. You'll end up learning conversion tracking, how to install header code, Google Shopping, retargeting — all of it.
Watch everything at 1.5x speed. That's two-thirds of the time. You can get competent fast if you just put in the reps.
Step 2: Raw Dog Loom Videos on YouTube
Here's what most people won't do: take every question you had while learning Google ads and make a Loom video answering it. No thumbnail, no editing — just record and upload. One to two videos a day for two weeks. You're not claiming to be an expert. You're just saying this is how you do it.
At the end of each video, say: "If you want help running your Google ads, check the link in the description."
Build a landing page on Card (it's $19/year), embed a free Calendly, connect it to Google Meet. That's your entire funnel. You'll get calls. Some basic YouTube SEO is all you need to start ranking those videos.
Step 3: Dream 100 Outreach
Scroll Instagram and find ecom brands running ads. If they're running Instagram ads, there's a strong chance they want Google ads too. Look them up on LinkedIn, find the founder or CMO, and use a tool like Clean Leads to pull their email.
Send a custom Loom video for every single person. This isn't mass outreach — it's Dream 100. Yes, it requires work. That's the point.
Your offer: 100% performance-based. No retainer. You take 10% of gross profit (revenue from ads minus ad spend). You have no case studies, so you remove all the risk for them. Get two to three clients this way.
Step 4: Stack Results, Then Go Mass Outbound
Work with those first clients for two to three months. Get them results. Document everything. Now you have a case study: How I got an ecom brand a 6x return on ad spend with Google Shopping ads.
Put that on YouTube. Embed it on your website. Now you can launch mass cold outbound.
Buy 20 domains ($12 each). Add G Suite to each one ($7.20/month per domain = $144/month total). Connect them to Smartlead Pro ($99/month) — don't use any other cold email tool, I've tried them all. Pull 5,000 targeted ecom leads from Listkit (~$350 for 5,000 credits).
Your email script is simple: "Hey [name], I've been working with a company similar to yours for the past few months. Got them a 6x ROAS on Google ads. I'd love to see if I can do the same for you on a fully performance-based deal. Let me know if that's interesting — I can send you a Loom walkthrough of what I'm doing for them."
With 5,000 emails and a solid five-step follow-up sequence, you should hit 50 calls in two months. Minimum. If you can't get a 4-5% response rate, your targeting or messaging is off.
Step 5: Build Owned Traffic
Once you're making $5-7k/month in performance fees, reinvest into YouTube ads. Retarget everyone who's ever watched your videos or visited your website. Spend $15/day. Let it compound.
Launch a $99 done-for-you intro offer: "I'll set up your Google Shopping ads using the same framework I used to get brands a 6x ROAS." Turbo-charge it with ads. Collect emails and phone numbers. Start a free Skool community. Build a group consulting offer at $1,000/month.
The goal is owned traffic — an email list, a community, a YouTube channel. Cash flow funds the audience. Audience funds the scale.
Do this right and I promise you're at $100k/month within nine months.
Why Most People Won't Do This
It's not complexity. It's uncertainty.
You've never made a YouTube video. You've never been on a sales call. You've never been in a Google ads manager. Looking at all of that at once feels overwhelming — and so people just don't start.
But here's the thing: everything you want is on the other side of doing things you don't want to do. The business owner is paying you because they don't want to figure it out. The reason you can charge premium prices is that you've figured it out and you're actually good at it.
Every person I know who's making real money — people posting the cars, the Stripe screenshots — all of them are capable of doing things the average person won't do. That's the entire secret. They're not luckier. They're just doing more.
The Three Things That Make People Buy From You
Demonstration — give value, show competence. An hour-long walkthrough they could follow themselves.
Proof — case studies, results, screenshots.
Guarantee — if you have no proof, go 100% performance-based or offer a money-back guarantee.
If you have none of these and you're trying to run cold traffic to a sales page nobody knows about — you're not going to make it. It doesn't matter how many emails you send.
Build the proof first. Then build the audience. Then scale.
